Happy Belated Earth Day
I was dumping out my coffee grounds the other day and I felt really bad about doing it because lately I've been hearing all these things about you can find another use for practically anything. Well what do you know, last night I stumbled upon some great ideas for used coffee grounds! Some of them are kinda weird but I thought it was worth a shot!
1- Stinky Kitchen Drain- Boil some water, pour about 1/2 cup of coffee grounds down the drain, followed by the hot water (about 5 cups hot water). The hot water pushes the grounds through so it doesn't clog the drain and makes the drain smell good for about a week!
2-They are a great fertilizer. Especially for radishes and carrots. So before you plant mix the seeds with coffee grounds and plant them together. They increase in size and make bugs go away!
3- Deodorizer- Dry the grounds on a cookie sheet/foil then put them in some pantyhose. Make sure it's tied off. Then put it in any place that needs some freshening up, like a closet. You can use the same idea for your freezer.
4-Hair! My favorite idea- Especially for brunettes. Coffee enhances the color for darker colored hair and makes it shine more. You can prevent dandruff by rubbing it into your scalp too. So in between shampooing and conditioning rub them in your hair and thoroughly rinse. This idea is best for brunettes and black hair, not so much blonds.
You can check out some more ideas at http://www.visionmagazine.com/archives/0804/culture.html
Here's a poem from Scott Teabo
Sometimes things just fall apart,
And you're left there wondering why,
Emotions show through hidden expressions,
Evoking a building stormy sky.
Usually your head is clear,
And everything goes as planned,
But times will come when your thoughts conflict,
While pondering the situation at hand.
You sometimes wish it was obvious,
What was on your mind,
And that no one asked you what you're thinking,
Because of what they'll really find.
You sometimes wish it was easier,
So complicated all the time,
That maybe there was time for me,
When my racing mind has hit its prime.
I just wish it wasn't so god-damn hard,
To be strong, independent me,
Sometimes I feel like I'm all alone,
That they'll never truly see...
Thanks Scott!

Yellow
So again, long time no see! Things have been quite busy on our side. We thought we'd try out our own version of an online lit mag for a little while, see how people like it. In an effort to stay green we are keeping it online! If you have something you'd like to see up here go ahead and send it in. Thanks! Any donations would help too! Hope you enjoy! Once the site becomes more developed there will be specific links to drawings, poems, short stories, etc.
Also, we thought we'd share a few tips on trying to stay green!
More right turns when you drive! UPS did it and saved a lot of money on gas and emissions were cut down. So not only will you be saving money but you will be helping the environment too!
Kroger is giving away free reusable bags if you purchase 3 specific items like Doritos or Gatorade for example.
Check out Recycline. They have recycled products such as toothbrushes and tableware. Very cool.
And the summer is coming up, everyone wants to beat the heat. Try wearing clothes made out of bamboo! Seriously! Supposedly better than cotton. Prevents odors and helps you not sweat as much. Well those are our first few tips for now. Check out our first few entries!
Just A Teen
Mahham Syed
This poem highlights some of the thoughts and feelings teenagers feel. Some are dark and serious, while others are quite funny, but they are all important to those who are feeling them. In the end it reminds you not to get too worked up, after all, you are just a teen. - M.S.
When everything is said and done
And your battles are still not won
When you just can't stop seeing red
And you wish that you were dead
When your crush doesn't know who you are
And your dad won't buy you a car
When you're unsure where your path will lead
And whether or not you will succeed
When all you really want is fame
But your band is incredibly lame
When everything you do is in vain
And you think you might just be insane
When all of your thoughts are obscene
Remember, you're just a teen.
-Mahham Syed
Red Radio
Philip Belcastro
This poem is based on a comparison to Communist Russia and the current media's influence on people. Philip is from NY and has been writing poems, songs and stories since an early age.
Turn up the dial to hear the good news
Flags waving high at the Great Victory
Soldiers who've fallen into history
To arms my comrades; there's no time to lose!
Red Radio hums in our heads and few
Dare think past all its contradictory
Logic bombs tick to create mystery
Between your ears comrades; they are the fuse!
Don't buy what they sell to masses in waves
Of AM, FM, commercial TV
They brand you and stamp you cattle and sheep
Don't buy what they say about Jesus saves
Listen to what I say, listen to me!
Red Radio taught me talk should be cheap.

Mondo Mud Pit
Well, hello there.
Long time no see right?
First things first.
Manchester Orchestra was freakin awesome!!!
So I got my new Spin magazine.
Saw something awesome in there that I've always wanted to have but have never seen it ANYWHERE! PSH. TICKET ALBUMS!
Check out
http://www.ticketalbums.com
They have custom albums, concert ticket albums, sport ticket albums, and photo albums for concerts you went to. How wicked cool is that? They are relatively cheap also.
My very hip Spin magazine also featured some sweet reviews on some fresh cd's coming out. Some of my favorites included:
Hot Chip- Made in the Dark- if you go on myspace like today there's a free download for one of their songs
The Helio Sequence (very cool band)- Keep Your Eyes Ahead
Louis XIV-Slick Dogs and Ponies (sometimes kinda sleezy but they have a nice bluesy tune)
Kate Nash- Made of Bricks- straightforward Brit chick tells it like it is.
Ok now some of us still don't have jobs but we've got loads of interviews so hopefully we'll get jobs soon which means we're going to take down the Unemployment Fund. But a new one is coming up in light of the 2008 Muddy Buddy Race!!
Check out http://www.muddybuddy.com
So basically if you don't know much about the race it includes running, biking, obstacle courses, and huge mud pit at the end. Teams comprise of two people and you switch off between running and biking at each obstacle course. The race is about 6 miles.
We have two teams so far that want to compete. One of the teams however does not have a bike. And the other team does not have enough money to enter the race right now. Soooo. If anyone is willing and able to donate to the MuddyBuddy Race that would be so freakin awesome. We'll post stats, pics and updates about training, etc.
It's gonna get pretty dirty :)

Jingle Bells, Batman Smells...
IT SNOWED IN GEORGIA!
How about that?!
Now, we get pretty excited about snow because it rarely ever happens. So when huge snowflakes started flying out of the sky and blanketing our yards we were absolutely thrilled. It was probably no more than an inch to two inches. Enough to make some snowballs and a lopsided snowman.
So, there is this new site we've been working on. It's called Oh, The Places You Will Go! http://bringbackstories.blogspot.com
This AWESOME site features pretty cool random pictures of people's gloves/hands/feet/shoes and little blurbs about the places they were in.
It's still a work in progress but you can go ahead and check it out and submit your own photo and story!
Ok, we are always looking for new, creative stuff to post on our walls, wear, or even skate on..?!
Most people have heard of http://www.threadless.com
You can submit your design and win some money, or just buy some pretty nifty looking shirts.
There is also http://www.uneetee.com/
This site is similar to threadless, except they post a new t-shirt every day. "One Day, One Artist, One Cool T Shirt" The shirts are only like 10$ when they first arrive on that One Day, and after they go into the collection they range from 15-18$ I believe.
Linty Fresh! Friend of a friend's website. Features guy and girls t-shirts long sleeve tees and buttons!
http://www.lintyfresh.com
Check this out. You can submit your design to be printed on a skateboard and win money if you win the contest! That's awesome!!
http://www.popdeck.com/
If you are having trouble finding a gift for someone, or just want something neat for yourself, check out this website. They have magnetic shot glasses, bubble machines, obsessive compulsive action figures and sorts of random goodies!!
http://www.surprise.com
Came across this really cool tune-
The Artist is Amelie Poulain and the Song is Comptine d'Un Autre Ete. It's completely piano and it sounds amazing. If you go to http://www.myspace.com/levalsedamelie you can hear it and a couple of other interesting songs.
Cloverfield midnight tonight!!

"Where you stumble, there lies your treasure"
Oh my goodness!!!
We have found a new addiction. Yeah it's been around but I never really committed. I didn't want to add another toolbar to my Firefox browser. But I sure am glad I did.
Stumble Upon is the best way to surf the web EVER!!!
I downloaded the toolbar, set my interests and started surfing the web. So far I found this website that took me forever to get unhooked:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/sleep/sheep/reaction_version5.swf
And this website asks you what you have in your kitchen and gives you recipes. I thought I had like NOTHING but next thing I know I'm sitting down eating this awesome omelette!!
http://www.cookingbynumbers.com/frames.html
Oh and this website, what is the purpose of it?
http://www.maninthedark.com/
I have no idea, but I know I spent at least two minutes spinning the man around the screen. If you click on it watch what happens!!
Oh oh, this is hilarious.
HOW TO TICK PEOPLE OFF!!!!
http://artlung.com/smorgasborg/how_to_tick_people_off.shtml
Seriously I sat here laughing forever....in accordance with prophesy. ha jk.
Found this video...
Did you know how to fold shirts?
Well now you will...

http://www.myspace.com/thegetmiles
Thank you, Anonymous for recommending the two comedians!! Pretty funny shiznat.
One of the funniest websites is Urban Dictionary http://urbandictionary.com I ALWAYS forget they have a word of the day. Today's Word of the Day is "church on the move."
I know you want to know what that means...
You can check out the website for the definition. :)
There's a nifty little music box below that plays some nifty music. Jam to it. Got it any faves? Let me know and i'll add them!

The World Is Spinning
Occasionally, when I'm outside I'll plant my feet stable on the ground and stare up at the sky. I don't know why sometimes. Maybe because I wish I could fly. Maybe because I wish I could walk on the moon. If I concentrate hard enough, maybe, just maybe I can make everyone freeze or carry on in slow motion, so I can, for just a minute, feel the earth spinning beneath my feet.
Last week there was a meteor shower. The Quadrantids. It was FREEZING outside. So we opted not to go to the mountain where we would have an awesome view of the shooting stars, but instead opted for the warmth of a fire at a lower altitude where we only saw a few meteors here and there.
Laying out under the stars, especially shooting stars, with your friends is pretty awesome. You realize how small you are compared to the universe.
Here are the meteor showers for the rest of the year. Perhaps you could plan a camping trip, or stay in a cabin and on that night check it out.

Did anyone know there was a Cloud Appreciation Society?
http://cloudappreciationsociety.org/
Check out these look alike clouds:
A horse, a flying man, a duckling, and an elephant.

For those not too fond of the outdoors I have found some websites that are very addicting and a lot of fun.
For the Gamer-
Bubble Struggle
http://www.bubble-shooter.org/struggle.html
Awesomely fun, addicting game with many many levels. Might seem kinda lame at first. But it's worth it. Don't let your boss/teacher catch you though. Because you'll be so addicted once you get caught you'll start having withdrawals.
http://www.whiskeymilitia.com/
http://www.steepandcheap.com/
These are two awesome sites that have one deal at a time. Once it's gone, it's gone for good. But they are normally really sweet deals.
And for the comedian this is a pretty funny sketch by Dane Cook. I would also check out Brian Regan if you haven't already.

The Shakes, Skittles, and Smoothies
There are a couple of people who have epilepsy, a neurological condition that causes you to have seizures if you do not have the proper medication.
This week's donation fund goes to the people who are having difficulty affording their medication.Without their medication it's very hard to lead a normal day to day life. Not that any of us lead a normal life!
I don't know if any of you have ever tried the Skittles LipBalm...but it's very weird. I thought it was candy at first..but fortunately out of the corner of my eye I saw the warning label. Then I thought it was going to be like chapstick. But it kinda dried up and didn't give my lips any nourishment and didn't even taste like skittles. odd.
For the past week there's been a cold going around. I wish I could give everyone a smoothie a day to help their cold go away. Because a smoothie has antioxidants and vitamins and so many yummy things.
